State ABVP  Secretary K Ramesh who addressed the protestors  lashed out at the government for keeping the public in the dark regarding the project and for going ahead without taking  them into confidence. Referring to expert report that only 9 tmc water would be available instead of the 24 tmc as claimed by the government, he said it would be best if the government finds a suitable alternative to the project. The project should not be continued unless and until the government  makes it clear to the people that the project would do no harm to the Western Ghats and the district would not face water scarcity, he said.
While supporting former union minister B Janardhana who has strongly criticised the project, Ramesh  said the ABVP would not rest until the project is dropped.

Another ABVP leader Suhan who also addressed the protest rally took a dig at former union minister Veerappa Moily for supporting the project and warned of intensifying the protest.
