Mangaluru: Street Vending Zone not yet operational

Mangaluru, Dec 12, 2016: The street vendors of Mangaluru have finally  got a special zone for themselves but  are in dilemma as the  yard but it is not yet operational.

The land has been provided to the street vendors in this prime area  with much difficulty and added that of the 216 registered street vendors, 208 have been issued ID cards so far. After identifying the number of the vendors in the city, the MCC will allot land to registered vendors so that they could carry out their business in a specified place without the fear of being fined for encroachment.

The Zone has come up in accordance to a Supreme Court directive in this regard to ensure proper rehabilitation of street vendors.

The street vendors who were happy with the new system are now in a big confusion as the zone hasn’t yet distributed properly among the vendors based on their function, type of items to be sold to the customers and others.It has hit the daily income of the vendors.
