Mangaluru: Several booked for provocative social media posts

Mangaluru, Dec 30 2019:  The city police have registered criminal cases against many persons on the charges of attempting to disrupt communal harmony through provocative social media posts.

Many such provocative messages are being circulated on social media ever since the December 19 police firing incident following which City Police Commissioner Dr. P S Harsha had ordered a probe.

Acting upon the same, the cyber police have served notices to many asking them to appear for probe. Several social media group admins too have been served notice, it has been learnt.

The police who have intensified probe are likely to file cases against many others. The City Police Commissioner has already warned against circulating provocative and false messages on social media.
