Mangaluru : Sainik Bhavan inaugurated at Light House Hill

Mangaluru, July 27, 2015 :  School syllabi should  incorporate lessons on the valiant sacrifices made by defence personnel  and also should be  a source of encouragement to students to join defence  forces,  opined several speakers   who participated in the inaugural of Sainik Bhavan at Light House Hill on July 26, Sunday.

N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Vinay Hegde who was present as a chief guest, said lessons on career opportunities in defence forces should be incorporated in text books.  Earlier Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala inaugurated the Sainik Bhavan.  MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik who was also present informed that Rs 11 lakh had been sanctioned from his area development fund for the project, while former MLA Yogish Bhat too had sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from his fund.  ‘Samarpana’ a souvenir brought out to commemorate the occasion was released at the function.  N Sharath Bhandari, President of DK District Ex-Servicemen’s Association informed that the building located on a five cents land has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 70 lakh.  Prior to the ceremony, the Association paid respects to martyrs of Kargil war during the Kargil Diwas observed at the War Memorial at Kadri.
