Mangaluru : Sadananda Gowda donates one month’s salary for earthquake relief fund

Mangaluru, 28 April 2015: Minister for Law & Justice DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday donated one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to help with relief work for those affected in the massive earthquake that hit Nepal and northern India.

The official twitter account of Sadanada Gowda shared the information.

"Donated my one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, for assistance to those affected by the recent earthquake," Gowda tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also donated his one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, for assistance to those affected by the recent earthquake.

Meanwhile, The United States, India, Israel, Pakistan and other governments have sent emergency supplies and personnel such as doctors to Nepal. The Red Cross has 1,500 volunteers and 300 staff on the ground providing basic first-aid and other support.

On Monday, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies issued an appeal to raise 33.5 million Swiss francs ($35.2 million) to provide emergency assistance.

Saturday’s earthquake , which measured 7.9 on the Richter scale, resulted in the deaths of over 4,000 people in Nepal, while 59 people were killed in India.
