Mangaluru: Road Accident Kills Young Ian Mascarenhas

Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2017: In a tragic incident, Ian Mascarenhas, a Gulf based Mangalorean youth died in a car accident near Kuntikana in the city. The victim is the 27-year old son of Stephen Mascarenhas (Hemacharya), the editor of Daijiworld Weekly English magazine. He is also survived by his mother Annie and a sister. The family resides at Bondel in the city.

Ian was said to having been travelling with four friends when his vehicle met with a headlong collision with another oncoming vehicle. This occurred yesterday (22 December) close to BMS Hotel on the national highway passing through Kuntikana. The Suzuki Alto in which Ian was travelling was badly smashed and he got thrown out the vehicle it is reported. Though all the accidents victims were immediately shifted to AJ Hospital which is situated close by, Ian succumbed to his grievous injuries this morning.

Ian was employed in Saudi Arabia and was visiting his hometown on holiday.

His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at St Lawrence Church, Bondel at 2 pm on Sunday, December 24, followed by funeral mass at 3 pm.
