Mangaluru, March 10, 2016 : A protest meet was organised by members of the Regional Tibet Youth Congress here on March 10, Thursday in the wake of the twin immolations by Tibetan Youth recently, including one incident in India to oppose Chinese rule in Tibet. As many as 150 Tibetans have also committed self-immolation over the years to protest against the Chinese repressive policies in Tibet.
Addressing the protest, Tenzin, President of Tibetan Student s Association said the day also commemorates the 57th anniversary of the National Uprising Day of Tibetans against Chinese occupation of Tibet.
She said though Tibetans enjoy freedom and all rights in India, they will have to face imprisonment even for holding Tibetan flags in their nation. She also stated that thousands of Tibetans are still behind bars in China and said China had even destroyed several thousands of Buddhist monasteries, and has killed nearly 1.5 million Tibetans over the years.
Several Tibetans participated in the protest.
