Mangaluru: Rakshana Vedike protests against Cauvery water release

Mangaluru Sep 7, 2016: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike turned to agitation mode and staged protest outside DC office today September 7, Wednesday over release of Cauvery water toTamil Nadu.

Addressing  the protestors, District President Anil Das said that  entire  Karnataka was agitated over Supreme Court directive to release 15,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha is politicizing the issue for the purpose of vote bank, he alleged.

He also said that farmers in Karnataka are distressed over the issue and  accused the state government of total negligence.  Karnataka is facing monsoon deficit and has scarcity of water in  four reservoirs. The state will  definitely turn to a  barren land, said Anil Das.

Referring to the controversial Yettinahole project, he said "DV Sadananda Gowda and Veerappa Moily have benefited crores of money for their stance on the project."

 Vice President  of the Vedike Anwar Malewadi demanded resignation of Irrigation Minister MB Patil for his ignorance over Cauvery row.

Meanwhile,  protestors burnt an effigy of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha.
