Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2016: A pregnant young woman has been found murdered in an isolated spot near Madur Kancharu bridge in Ullal Police Station limits on February 10, Wednesday.
Police have arrested a man said to be the woman’s husband in connection with the case after ascertaining some evidences. The decomposed body was first spotted by a person who had been to the area to answer nature’s call.
The deceased woman was Shobha (22) from Shivamogga. The accused has been identified as Muttappa Datinal of Halegeri in Badami taluk. The two have been living in a rented house at Beeri since four months.
It has been gathered that Shobha was an alcoholic and that the couple used to frequently quarrel in a drunken stupor. One such quarrel is learnt to have culminated in the murder with Muttappa reportedly hitting her head against the wall on February 8, Monday night.
It is learnt when Muttappa found that she had died he had dumped the body in an isolated spot. On Wednesday, when the body was traced, Muttappa was at his work as usual. Police who saw blood stains on the floor and even outside the couple’s house grew suspicious and arrested Muttappa.
Further investigations are underway.
