Mangaluru, April 29, 2015 : KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwar who also happens to be the President of Karnataka Athletics Association on April 29, Wednesday  inspected Mangala Stadium, the venue of the 19th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships, a day ahead of the inaugural of the four day event on April 30. Parameshwar also oversaw the arrangements being made for the much awaited event in which nearly one thousand athletes from different parts of the nation are taking part.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Parameshwar said the Mangala Stadium which earlier faced complaints of inadequate facilities is now all geared up for the event and is fully equipped. On the preparations, he said almost the entire work would be complete by Wednesday evening. Arrangements for food and accommodation of the athletes and their officials have been made.


The newly inaugurated dope test centre will be  managed by the officials of the National Anti-Doping Agency, he informed. All arrangements have also been made to help the media to cover the event by providing a gallery with necessary facilities, Parameshwar stated.


 To a question, Parameshwar said the Chief Minister who will be busy with a special meet with PM over Mekedatu and also  another meet regarding Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, would try his level best to make it to Mangaluru to attend the inaugural.

Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim said the administration would ensure at least 10,000 students from various school and colleges will participate in the inaugural. In the backdrop of a transport strike on April 30, the DC said he has requested DK bus operators to exempt DK from the strike.

MLC Ivan D’Souza  then informed that private bus operators here will not take part in the strike JR Lobo, MLA and other officials  were present.

The inaugural ceremony will begin with a grand cultural procession at 5.15 pm on April 30 following a formal inauguration at 6.15. p.m. This will be followed by cultural programmes till 9.15 pm. The championship will be held from May 1 to 4.
