Mangaluru :‘No explosion of any sort’ : MRPL clarifies on rumours

Mangaluru, Sep 09, 2015: The Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has  allayed rumours that here has been an explosion in the plant and has clarified that there has been no explosion of any kind in the MRPL premises.

 

Lakshmi M Kumaran, General Manager (Corporate Communications)MRPL informed that there was a blackout due to power breakdown and that as  the trapped gases are  pushed out the flare  was larger than usual.

Earlier rumours were making rounds that there was a fire mishap in the third unit of MRPL resulting in a power breakdown on September 8, Tuesday night. It is also stated that people in the vicinity and also some far off places had heard a loud sound of the generator  with soon thick orange flares seen up in the air above the plant.
