Mangaluru : Newly appointed Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza receives warm welcome

Mangaluru July 6, 2016: Newly appointed Chief Whip of ruling Congress in State Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza  received a warm welcome by the Congress party workers in Mangaluru on  July 6, Wednesday.

Later, addressing   the party workers at Congress office, Ivan D’Souza recalled his political journey which began at a very young age of 21  when he  had contested for the Mandal Panchayath election. "I feel politics is the best way to serve people," he said.

"Even after losing in 2008 elections I never lost hope and took it has a challenge and worked for the party and served the  people. It is important to have patience and wait for the right time to taste success," he said adding that he secured the MLC post very unexpectedly. In the upcoming 2018  Assembly elections, Congress party will work hard to defeat the BJP, he said.

"Though there was lot of opposition  on choosing me as chief whip, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Parameshwar stood by me," Ivan said.  He also owed gratitude to senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes, District in-charge Minister  Ramanath Rai and former minister  Abhayachandra Jain for their support throughout.

Mayor Harinath, DK Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijaal,  Ivan D’Souza’s better-half  Dr Kavitha, Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, AC Vinayraj and others were present.
