Mangaluru, May 05, 2016: Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru and K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University jointly inaugurated the new building of the Milagres College in the city on May 4, Wednesday. The new building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 14 crores.
Speaking on occasion, Prof. Byrappa hailed the yeoman contributions made by the Milagres institutions to the field of education. He also urged the college authorities to start vocational courses which would also contribute to solve the problem of unemployment.
Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza who presided over the function expressed gratitude to all those who contributed towards the construction of the new building for one of the oldest institutions of Mangaluru.
The Milagres College of Hotel Management was inaugurated by Fr. Gerald D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Board of Education, while Fr Dianasious Vas, Rector of St. Aloysius College inaugurated the new auditorium.
Mangaluru Mayor Harinath inaugurated the computer lab while Vinayraj, corporator inaugurated the Milagres Hostel.
Donors to the new building were felicitated on the occasion by Fr Valerian D’Souza, Parish Priest of Milagres Church. Fr Michel Santhumayor,Principal of Milagres College, Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, University Syndicate member, MP Noronha, President, Parish Pastoral Council, Ivan D’Souza, MLC and others were present.
The new building of Milagres College is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure with more than one lakh square feet space. It comprises of an auditorium, AC conference room, spacious classrooms with LCD Projectors, 8000 sq/ft library with E-Library facility, computer lab, etc.
