Plumes of smoke are emitted through vehicles, faced with such situations, besides lack of monitoring of air pollution from vehicles. Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), Regional Transport Department and Mangaluru Refinery and Petrochemical Limited (MRPL) has jointly launched mobile monitoring to crack down on smoke-spewing vehicles.

Having sophisticated machines will help us do on-the-spot vehicle checks as well as check the validity of the emission centers. Regular checking and fines, awareness will be spread about maintenance of vehicles to keep pollutions low. Mobile monitoring vehicles are deployed for vehicular emission checks.

MCC commissioner M Nazeer, MLA B A Moideen Bava, Environment Officer Rajshekar Puranik and many others were present.
