Mangaluru : Matyotsava at Pilikula brings joy to fish lovers

Mangaluru, July 22, 2019: The  Matyotsava organised by the Fisheries Department, Fisheries, Fisheries Development Board and Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama saw an enthusiastic response from the general public.

 

 

 

 

 

Zilla Panchayat Vice President Kasturi Panja inaugurated the event on July 21, Sunday by releasing  25,000 fingerlings into the lake at Pilikula.

Speaking on the occasion, Kasturi Panja described the Matyotsava as a great occasion for fish lovers and a good way of encouraging the fishing industry.

A book entitled ’Javaabdaariyuta  Meenugarike’ was released during the function.

Jayaprakash Bhandary, Director of Pilikula Nisargadhama, GP member Hariprasad Shetty and others were present.

Fish auction was also held on the occasion and saw active participation from members of the general public.
