Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Oct 26, 2015: It was an eye sore to see the footpaths from Mangaladevi Temple to Jeppu were filled with garbage and construction debris and wooden logs.  Volunteers cleared the footpath using an earthmover, a tipper and a grass-cutting machine and removed almost two tippers of heaps of garbage. Due to the lack of  sign boards, motorists and pedestrians, especially those from outside, faced problems.

Volunteers under the auspices of the Ramakrishna Mission cleaned Jeppu as part of the mission’s 24th Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan. They cleaned the area on Oct 25, Sunday, from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

Nine sign boards were erected at different locations. Two circles were also repainted thus beautifying them. The bus shelter in front of Cascia High School in Jeppu was thoroughly cleaned and spruced with paint.  Volunteers also distributed the Swachh Mangaluru awareness pamphlets.  MRPL, principal patron of the event sponsored the drive.
