Mangaluru : Man sleeping outside timber depot mowed down by lorry at Jeppu Kudupadi

Mangaluru, Feb 15, 2020: A person who was sleeping outside  a timber depot at Jeppu Kudupadi was mowed down by a lorry    on February 14, Friday evening.

 

The deceased has been identified as Sudhaker (55) of Hubballi.  The  lorry was supposed to go towards Neermarga, but the driver  was mistakenly proceeding on the Kudupadi road. When he found that the road near Kudupadi was dug up for underground drainage works he  drove the lorry  towards the vacant land in front of the depot. The accident occurred as  the driver was unaware of Sudhaker sleeping there.

No sooner the driver realised that he had mowed down the man, he abandoned the vehicle and fled the place. The lorry was from Shivamogga and had come to the market for unloading vegetables. The lorry driver has been traced.

Traffic East Police are investigating the case.
