Mangaluru : Kudike celebrations enthuse city

Mangaluru, Sep 07, 2015:  The birthday of Lord Krishna was celebrated on Sept 5 & 6,  Saturday and Sunday,  later in the evening  Mangalureans flooded the streets on Sunday celebrating Mosaru Kudike and other cultural programmes in different parts of the city.

 

 

Kadri remained the centre of attraction on Sunday too with Mosaru Kudike competitions as well as a cultural procession.   The procession started from the Gopalakrishna Temple, Kadri Kambala and moved on main roads to reach the Kadri Manjunatha Temple.

It had six attractive tableaux, the Payat troupe from Payyanur, a Nasik band among other attractions. A display of crackers accompanied the procession and all along the route, the participants broke Mosaru Kudikes.

At Attavar, the Sarvajanika Sri Krishna Jayantyutsava Samiti organised a Mosaru Kudike and ‘Pili Vesha’ (men dressed as tigers) competition for the 106th year.   The festivities were conducted at the historical Mosaru Kudike Katte near Sri Arasu Mundathaya ground under the guidance of samiti President A. Suresh Babu.   There was a ‘Pili Vesha’ performance at Kottara organised by KK Friends while Mosaru Kudike competition was conducted at Sri Gopalakrishna Temple, Shaktinagar.

In the  evening  Kadri saw Rhythmic Nite ’15, a musical evening organised by Kadri Cricketers Club.  Star Ravichandran made an appearance during the show late in the evening and said he started his career in the cinema industry from the coastal region.  He spoke about his under-production film Apoorva and said it would hit the screens soon. Various Kannada numbers featuring Ravichandran were played on the occasion.

District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai, film producer K. Manju and others attended the event.  The enthusiasm that the festivities brought to the city auger well.
