Mangaluru: Kidnap Drama Proves to be False Alarm

Mangaluru, June 8, 2018: A suspected incidence of kidnapping outside Mont Tiara Apartment at Nanthoor this morning proved to be a false alarm. It was initially reported this morning that a 10 year old girl had been kidnapped just outside the apartment building by an unidentified person in a Maruti Omni van. The girl was said to have escaped from her abductor by jumping out of the van when he slowed down the vehicle to tackle a road hump.

When news of this got around, it created scare in the locality. After Kadri Police intervened to investigate the matter, it was discovered that it was a case of false alarm. According to sources at Kadri Police Station, three kids belonging to the housekeeping staff of Mont Tiara Apartment were playing in the premises as the Deputy Commissioner had declared a holiday for schools due to anticipated rain.

Suddenly one of the kids went missing and the other two kids misreported the matter to their mother who raised an alarm, leading to a scare. As many policemen were seen at the entrance of Mont Tiara, word soon went around that there was a kidnapping in the city. Kadri Police have now clarified that there was no kidnapping and no untoward outcome in the matter.
