Mangaluru: KMC launches MARS amulance service

Mangaluru, June 27, 2015: KMC Hospital has launched  (MARS), state-of-the-art ambulance service, with intensive care facility at a formal ceremony held at the hospital premises near Ambedkar Circle here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch of MARS - ’Manipal Ambulance Response Service’ on June 26 , Manipal University Pro-Vice Chancellor Surendra Shetty stated that along with modern ambulances, facilities should be put in place to move the victims to super speciality set ups safely. Roads are more wide spread now a days, number of accidents are increasing. MARS, which has intensive care unit within can provide emergency treatment to victims should serve common man.

He expressed his observations that there is no need of a government medical college here  as the composite DK has eight medical colleges, all private, but with world class facility.

DK SP Dr S D Sharanappa said more that 70 per cent of lives can be saved in accident cases if the victims are treated within 60 minutes of the incident. With the new ambulances with intensive care facility, victims can be treated in the golden hour ( the first one hour) and chances of saving lives are better. He fully  agreed that the accident rates have shot up. Police are trying their level best to control traffic with modern methods, better personnel and volunteers.  He then flagged off the new ambulance service.
