Mangaluru : Jyothi suicide case : Cop arrested on blackmail charges

Mangaluru, June 11, 2015: Following the suicide  of 17 year old Jyothi Moolya of  Kumpala Krishnanagar by  hanging herself at her house on June 10, Wednesday, the police  have arrested  Praveen Salian, a constable in Pandeshwar Police Station who was allegedly in love with the girl. Salian is facing charges of threatening the girl and trying to extract cash of Rs one lakh and gold from her.

 

 

 

 

The girl had left behind a suicide note in which she had stated that she developed friendship with Praveen through Facebook and  also that  he used to blackmail and threaten her and demand cash and gold. She had also revealed in the death note that frustration in life drove her to the extreme step.

Praveen has been produced before the JMFC Court and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
