Mangaluru: Journalism Day observed at Press Club

Mangaluru July 1, 2016: Manglauru Police Commissioner M Chandrashekar inaugurated “Journalism Day” at Press Club today July 1st Friday.

In his inaugural Speech, M Chandrashekar said that, police and press have both love and hatred relationship towards eachother, it is hard to imagine our country without the press which plays a pivotal role in the survival of the democracy.

Senior Journalist Manohar Prasad said that Mangalore is a place where print media was first started in 1843 by the Basel Mission in the name of Mangalore Samachara as they day passed Journalism in Mangaluru is standing tall and journalists have maintained their own identity throughout.

Later, Dean of Social Work Department Prof. Joselyn Lobo took a session on “Social Websites, Media and Society”

Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ramanath Rai inaugurated Photo Exhibition which exhibited the creative photos captured by the photo journalists Apul Alva, Daya Kukkaje, Ravi Posavanike, Reshma, Sathish Ira, Govind Javali, Umar Farooq and RK Bhat.

President of DK Working Journalist Union Jaganaath Shetty Bala, General Secretary Srinivas Nayak were present.
