Mangaluru Jail clash was pre-planned, 5 booked : ADGP Alok Mohan

Mangaluru, Nov 4, 2015 :  ADGP (Law and Order) Alok Mohan has said that the  clash in the District Prison on November 2, resulting in the death of two inmates namely Madoor Isubu and his associate Ganesh Shetty was pre-planned. He also stated that so far cases have been registered against five persons in connection with the incident.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the prison on November 3, Tuesday, he said investigations were  presently underway and a clear picture as to exactly what happened will emerge once the investigation is  complete. The ADGP also said that five to six persons had attacked Isubu who was inside the prison. There is also information that the attackers had crossed the compound wall separating the old prison from the new building.

Investigations are underway to find out if only insiders or of outsiders too were involved in the incident.

About the weapons used by the assailants, the ADGP said the two were attacked with a knife which however has not been seized. ’’There is a possibility that the assailants might have thrown it outside   or hidden it somewhere," he added.

On the claims made by an inmate that some jail personnel were involved, said the person might have made a speculation. He also  said  a special team led by DCP (Crime) has been formed under the supervision of City Police Commissioner S Murugan to investigate the case.

He also said those responsible for the incident would be dealt with an iron hand.
