Mangaluru: International Children’s Film Festival gets a flying start

Mangaluru, Nov 23, 2015:  It was a flying start to the four-day International Children’s Film Festival with  a colourful start on Nov 22 Sunday,  with children witnessing  cultural programmes followed by the formal inauguration.

 

 

In Dk  at least  24 theaters will screen various films between November 23 and November 26 between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The festival was inaugurated by in-charge Ministers of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi respectively B. Ramanath Rai and Vinay Kumar Sorake. The presence of a host of dignitaries, including Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa. Ra. Govindu, and actor Khushboo was a bonus.

The festival is being organised by DK district administration in association with Children’s India and the academy.

The district administration has made arrangements to ferry children from schools to designated theatres in association with bus operators in the two districts. Actor Khushboo said that when in school, students feel oneness.

“But the same feeling vanishes when they grow up. This is a serious issue which should be looked into by society, which should inculcate culture, discipline, tolerance and secularism among children. She said, “Children will take forward the best qualities; but we need to ask if we are guiding them in the right path.”  Khushboo said a lot of intolerance is looming large over society now while no one appears to have patience, understanding and  to understand the pain of others. Children have clear hearts and one should ensure that they remain pure as they are.  Khushboo said, “We need to teach our children to treat each and everyone equally.”

Transport : Nearly 380 city buses in Mangaluru will be deployed to bring children to theatres and take them back for free during the four-day children’s film festival that was inaugurated.

General secretary of D.K. Bus Operators’ Association Vijay Krishna Putran said that bus operators had been asked to bring children from different routes to the Nehru Maidan from where vehicles had been arranged to take them to theatres. Children would be brought back to Nehru Maidan from theatres and would be taken back to their destination after the end of the show.

While children for the film show would get down and then board buses at the Nehru Maidan, other passengers will do so from State Bank terminus. The organisers were expecting 12,000 students for  film shows each day. Around nine buses would be sent to Bajpe.
