Mangaluru, July 1, 2018: Effective implementation of GST would help in increasing the nation’s revenue thereby contributing to growth, said M Venkatesh, Managing Director of MRPL.
He was speaking after inaugurating GST Day organised at the Mangaluru GST Commissioner’s Office at Attavar on the occasion of the completion of one year of implementation of GST on July 1, Sunday.
He said implementation of GST was a vital step with a view to bring tax reforms in India. It also ensures transparency in tax payment, he added.
Commissioner of Central Excise and GST Subrahmanyam who also spoke said there was a positive response for GST in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Mangaluru GST Commissionerate limits. He said a total of 11,295 have paid GST while 12,943 have registered to pay GST this year. He said GST of Rs 17,22,000 crore has been collected in the City GST Commissionerate limits in 2016-17 and Rs 15,94,100 crore in 2017-18.
Officials of Mangaluru GST office who have rendered yeoman service were felicitated.
