Mangaluru: GSB community members offer prayers to the Sea God

Mangaluru, Aug 31, 2015: GSB community members from Sri Venkataramana Temple offered pooja to the Sea god, seeking good rainfall  and to keep  calamities like  drought away.

After performing a traditional Pooja at M/s Vardaraja Agencies at Bunder by Pandit Acharya Narasimha, milk, coconuts, flowers and Garlands of Tulasi and Flowers were offered to the sea God by around 50 community members accompanied by Trustees of the Temple Adige Balakrishna Shenoy, M. Padmanabha Pai, and K.Jayaraj Pai

The pooja is usually held during the two initial weeks of Sankramana. It is believed that during this period the Gods will open the heavens showering bountiful of blessings on earth. It is during this period that the progeny of fish will survive in the sea, plants will grow better and the saplings that are planted by the farmers will become paddy stalks and give food to millions.
