Mangaluru: Four houses damaged after sea erosion in Ullal

Mangaluru June29, 2016: Nearly four houses have been washed away due to sea erosion and 10 houses are in threat to get washed away in the Ullal Someshwar area.

From past couple of years several houses have been washed away due to sea erosion. Sea erosion is being extensively reported on about 2.2 km sea front between Batpaady  and Someshwara where four houses damaged completely and another 10 is under threat to get washed away.

A portion of house in Mogaveerapatna, which is away from the Ucchila stretch and is in Ullal, was swept away by strong waves. If no immediate steps such as placing boulders are taken, many more houses are bound to be swallowed by the raging sea.

Preventive action would be taken through the Asian Development bank funded project and initiated to take up immediate work under the ADB funded project, said DC AB Ibrahim.
