Mangaluru, Feb 24, 2021: State Minister for Fisheries and Ports S Angara laid the foundation for the modern aquaculture units to be set up at the Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation land at Hoigebazar, on February 23, Tuesday. The units will be set up at a cost of Rs 7.9 crores.
On this occasion, the minister also laid foundation for the Matsya Darshini canteen in the premises of Fisheries College. A replica of a boat was also inaugurated.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the aquaculture units would go long way in promoting the fishing industry. He also assured to strive to find solutions to the several problems confronting the fishing sector.
Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, officials of the Fisheries Department and Fisheries College were present.
