Mangaluru: Final voters’ list of Dakshina Kannada released

Mangaluru, March 4, 2018: The final voters’ list of Dakshina Kannada district is ready. The list  covering all eight assembly segments of the district was released at the DC office on March 4, Sunday. Speaking  to reporters  later, Additional DC Kumar said   a copy each of the final voters’ list will have to be submitted to all registered  political parties as per the directive of the Election Commission.

He said  the draft voters list has a total of 16,66,814 voters  including 22,513 newly included voters.   There are a total of 8,20,764 male voters and 8,46,050 female voters. Of the total voters 16,24,137 voters have photo ID cards. There are a total of 9,280  differently abled voters, Kumar said.

The district will have a total of 1,790 polling booths of which 37 booths which lack amenities will be replaced.

 A separate control room has been sent up for providing information regarding election. The Control Room  will have two staff and will operate round the clock. The District Administration has also opened  a separate website named www.deodk.com.

 Experts from Delhi have arrived to  check the EVMs and  the same will be inspected in the presence of political leaders, he added.
