Mangaluru : Facebook ’love’ ends in tragedy! 17 yr old girl ends life, accuses cop.

Mangaluru, June 10, 2015: A 17 year old girl from Kumpala Krishnanagar here has reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence during the early hours of June 10, Wednesday. A death note left behind by the girl states that a policeman who had befriended her through Facebook was harassing her forcing her to take the extreme step of suicide.

The deceased girl is Jyothi (17) who was the foster daughter of a retired teacher named Jayanthi. It is learnt, the girl hanged herself while her mother  had been to attend Yoga classes. When she returned home she found the door locked from inside and  neighbours had to break the door to enter only to find Jyothi hanging from the ceiling fan.

Jyothi who had passed II PUC exams had  secured admission for B.Com course in  Besant College.

The death note left behind by  Jyothi mentions the name of Praveen Salian, a policeman working in Pandeshwar Station and how they fell in love with each other and how he had  set rules for her and blackmailed her. The death note stated that her friend used to threaten to commit suicide if she  did not pay heed to him and that frustration in life drew her to suicide.

Senior police officials including ACP Kalyani Shetty, Ullal  Inspector Pavitra Teja, SI Bharathi and others visited the spot and are conducting the investigation.
