Mangaluru : Durgavahini hosts Narishakti Samavesh

Mangaluru, Oct 14 :  The worshipping of Goddesses like Navadurgas, Lakshmi and Saraswathi  reveal the high esteem with which women are treated in Hindu religion, said  13 year old Harika Manjunath while delivering the key note address of Nari Shakti Samavesh organised by Durgavahini at Kadri Grounds on October 13, Sunday.

Known as a good orator, Harika said in Hindu Dharma women are considered above men  contrary to the allegations that women are not treated on par with men.

"Hindu Dharma always believes in peace," she said and at the same time added that  people of the religion will not tolerate any injustice.

Vidya Mallya of Durgavahini said the organisation always highlights the culture and tradition of the land. She said  in Dakshina Kannada district Durgavahini had over 50 committees.

VHP District President M B Puranik presided over the function.  MRPL Deputy General Manager Lakshmi M Kumaran, VHP leader Mohan Kuttar and many others were  present.

Prior to the convention, members took out a procession from Bunts Hostel Circle upto the function venue. The participants were seen sporting saffron petas.
