Mangaluru: Doordarshan journalist acquitted of charges of murdering wife

Mangaluru, Nov 20, 2015:  The First additional District and Sessions Court has acquitted a TV journalist   of Mangaluru of the charges of murdering his wife. The judgement comes almost two years after the incident took place.


mamatha Gangadhar  who worked as a reporter in Doordarshan was arrested  after his wife Mamatha Shetty (32) was found murdered at  his sister’s house at Kodikal in Mangaluru on July 15, 2013.

The Urwa police who were investigating the case had filed a charge sheet before the court. The defence lawyers of Gangadhar had argued that there were no evidences to prove that Gangadhar and his wife had a discord, that he was present  when the  murder took place  and claimed that other family members were also present in the house when the incident happened.

Tonse Narayana Poojari, a senior advocate, Mohammad Farooq, Mitesh Poojary and Satish K were the legal counsels for Gangadhar.
