Mangaluru : Doctor cheated in land ’sale’ - 5 held for cheating

Mangaluru, April 18, 2015: As per reliable reports,  police arrested five persons in connection with cheating City based doctors to the tune of Rs 2.50 crore offering sale of land using fake documents.

Doctor cheated...Jeevan Das Shetty (41) of Vamanjoor, Vijesh Roshan Cutinho (38) of Kulshekar, Paul Monteiro (66) of Pajeer, Praveen Shetty (32) of Kavoor and Alphonso M D’Souza (53) of Shakthinagar are under custody. The other accused are Satish R K, Sunil Kumar, Udaykumar, Harish Tholar, Balachandra Shetty, Gopinath it is stated.

Complaints filed in Urva Police Station  sates,  Dr Amarnath Sorake who is Chairman of Karnataka Ayurvedic Medical College desired  to buy a plot in the city and had sought the help of Rabiyath in his search for a suitable land.

Following this, Rabiyath informed Dr Sorake that a person named Victor Oliver Fernandes was ready to sell his plot measuring 6.36 acre in Pacchanady. Dr Sorake met a man who introduced himself as Victor Oliver Fernandes. During the meet Fernandes demanded Rs 2,51,15,000 for documents.

Dr Sorake paid the money. However, after a few days, when Dr Sorake went to the plot that he had purchased, a man questioned Sorake as what he was doing in the plot. When Dr Amarnath Sorake stated that he was the owner of the land as he had bought the land paying a hefty amount, the other person told him that he was Victor Oliver Fernandes, the real owner of the land and further that he had never sold the land.  It is also seen that  the accused had created fake  identity documents for the ’sale’  of the land.
