Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2015: The District unit of the BJP now wants a CBI probe into the Prashanth Poojary murder case of Moodbidri.
Speaking to reporters here on October 27, Tuesday, Umanath Kotian, District BJP Vice President has demanded that the state government handed over the investigation into the case to the CBI.
He was highly critical of the silence maintained by the DK District in-charge Minister as well as the State government towards the several cases of attacks on Hindu activists in the recent past. He also stated that none of the Congress leaders have so far chosen to visit the residence of Prashanth and console his grieving family.
’’ There have been allegations from some regarding the involvement of local MLA and state minister in the case,’’ he said and urged the minister to speak up. The public have every right to know the truth behind the case, he said and added a CBI probe can only ensure justice. He even pointed out to the report in a national media which had spoken about the alleged links between the minister and the accused who were arrested in the Prashanth Poojary case.
Referring to the Dadri incident wherein the Uttar Pradesh had granted Rs 45 lakh compensation to the family of the victim, Kotian demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Prashanth by the state government.
He said the district BJP will take a delegation including the family members of Prashanth to meet the governor to place forth demand for CBI probe into the case.
