Mangaluru: Deputy Inspector General KR Suresh takes over as new Coast Guard Commander

Mangaluru: August 14, 2015: Deputy inspector general KR Suresh took over as the 14th commander of number 3 Coast Guard District (Karnataka) at Panambur, the Indian Coast Guard headquarters. Suresh, an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, joined Indian Coast Guard on January 19, 1987. He belongs to eighth batch of direct entry officers. He is a highly qualified and a specialist in communication and electronic warfare.

He is also an alumnus of Naval Higher Command Course, Mumbai, and Naval Defence College, New Delhi. He holds an M Phil degree in defence strategic studies from Madras University, Chennai.

In his career spanning over 28 years, Suresh has held various important operational and staff appointments both at sea and headquarters.

He has commanded various ICG ships, including advanced offshore patrol vessel Sagar, offshore patrol vessel Varuna.

Suresh has also commanded Coast Guard Station Mandapam, an important Coast Guard post in South Tamil Nadu.
