Mangaluru : DRI sleuths arrest Kasargod man who hid gold bars in rectum

Mangaluru, April 20, 2017: Acting on credible intelligence that an International passenger by name Chattanchal Abdul Razak aged 49 years hailing from Kasargod, Kerala would attempt to smuggle gold biscuits into the country, the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Regional Unit, Mangalore, intercepted him on 19.04.2017 at the Mangaluru Airport shortly after his arrival from Dubai by Spice Jet flight SG 60 at around 18.30 hrs. Later a thorough interrogation and examination of the passenger revealed that he had secreted 4 gold bars inside his rectum which were safely removed after taking advice of medical professional.

Four gold biscuits were later safely removed with the help of medical professionals. The gold bars weighing 349.80 gms in total were  found to be of 24 Karat purity and valued at around Rs  10.5 lakhs.

The passenger, on interrogation admitted that he is a regular in this business and as revealed from his passport has been frequently landing at various airports like Mangaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Bangalore, Goa and Lucknow. He also revealed that he conceived this ingenious way of smuggling gold into the country by hiding it inside his rectum as he knew that the Customs Check at airports will concentrate mainly on baggage screening and frisking, but concealments like this will largely go undetected.
