Mangaluru: Customs seize gold hidden in suitcases of passenger at MIA

Mangaluru, June 2, 2015: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) on Monday, June 1, thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle gold by devious means.

The seized gold was brought in the form of silver paint-coated suitcase handle buckle holders and button shaped objects weighing 464.800 gms, were kept in a stroller suitcase carried as accompanied baggage by a passenger, who arrived from Abu Dhabi.

 

The passenger identified as Ubaid Bare Hussainar, a resident of Mangad, Kasargod, who arrived at Mangalore International Airport on Monday by Jet Airways flight 9W501.

Further investigation is under progress.
