Mangaluru : Congress finalises name of Bhasker Moily for Mayor post

Mangaluru, Mar 08, 2018: The confusion over who would be  the next Mayor of Mangaluru has ended with the name of senior corporator Bhasker Moily  finalised  on March 8, Friday morning.

The  name of Mohammad Kunjathbail has been finalised for the post of Deputy Mayor.

 A meeting    held at the Congress  office at 7 am on Friday under the leadership of DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai  was attended by DCC Chief Harish Kumar and MLAs J R Lobo, Moidin Bava, and MLC Ivan D’Souza.

None of the party  corporators  were allowed to attend this meeting which went on for around one and a half hours and ultimately finalised the name of Bhasker Moily.

The Mayoral election is scheduled to be held at 11 am. The  MCC has a total of 35 Congress members apart from 20 BJP members. The JD(S) has two members while the CPM, SDPI has one member. The MCC also has an independent corporator.
