Mangaluru: Coast Guard chief reviews Karnataka Coast Guard Operations and Development

Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2015: Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, AVSM, Director General, Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) visited No. 3 Coast Guard District Headquarters (Karnataka) at Mangalore on Wednesday, December 16, to review the operational preparedness and overall development of the Indian Coast Guard.

 

 

No. 3 Coast Guard District Headquarters (Karnataka) looks after the seaward safety and security of the State of Karnataka. It has various ships, stations and units under its Command that undertake the Coast Guard charter of duties at sea.

The Director General reviewed the various activities of Coast Guard Karnataka. He was appreciative of the Search and Rescue and other operations at sea being undertaken off Mangalore and the coastal areas.

The Director General also reviewed infrastructure development in the State of Karnataka. He emphasised the need to augment the infrastructure and related works keeping in view the future augmentation of units in the State of Karnataka with focussed attention, meticulous planning and also to keep up the timelines envisaged.

A release from the Coast Guard District Headquarters stated that, the presence of Director General brought a wave of enthusiasm and motivation amongst the Coast Guard fraternity at Mangalore. During the interaction with Coast Guard personnel, the Director General gave an insight into the future expansion of the service and the other welfare related activities being undertaken by the Coast Guard Headquarters at New Delhi as well as the Government of India.

The Director General urged the Coast Guard personnel to continue striving for excellence and professionalism to ensure safe and secure seas as per the Motto of the Service, “Vayam Rakshamah” meaning “We Protect”.
