Mangaluru: Childline 1098 rescues abandoned mother, children

Mangaluru, June 23, 2015: A statement from Childline 1098 Mangaluru, June 22 said that they rescued a woman and two children living  destitute at the KSRTC bus station at Bejai for the past four-days. Renukamma, 30 of Ukkudakere in Hosapete of Ballari district was abandoned by her husband leaving her to fend for herself and her two sons aged seven and two respectively.

However, a few days back, the family in her mother-in-law’s house threw Renukamma and her two young children out of the house over domestic issue. Renukamma not knowing what her next move would be boarded a bus for this coastal city and landed at the KSRTC bus station. Left without money to return to Ballari, she was in a helpless helpless state. 


Taking note of their condition, officials of Childline took Renukamma and her children to Dharmajyothi Samaja Seva Institute and rehabilitated them. Supreetha, Sampath and Asuntha D’Souza of Childline 1098 coordinated the rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
