Mangaluru Nov 12, 2016: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated Free-Wi-Fi at Mangaluru Central Railway station on Saturday November 12.

Speaking on the occasion Nalin Kumar said that  Mangaluru Railway station is the first railway station in Karnataka to get free Wi-fi facility. The facility is available within the railway platform. Even three other railway stations in Karnataka namely Bengaluru, Gulbarga and  Hassan will get connected with Wi-fi soon. This facility will benefit passengers who wait for long and helps them browse the net while waiting for the train, Nalin said.

DRM of Pallakad Division Naresh Laalvaani said that there was a  proposal to develop the entrance area, upgrade parking lot and construct foot over bridge in the central railway station. The connecting road to Railway station from Taluk Panchayath will be constructed. Foot over bridge and Platform shelter will be constructed at the estimated budget of Rs 1.8 crores, he said. Track doubling from Kankanady to Mangaluru Central Railway station is supposed to take off in another three years and Mangaluru Central will be electrified by March 2017, Laalvaani informed.
