Foot over bridges, Lifts and Escalators are aimed to provide hassle-free passenger movement among the platforms. Lift and escalator have been immensely helpful for senior citizens, differently-abled, children and those arriving with heavy luggage.

Out of the two escalators inaugurated at Mangaluru Central Railway Station, one is installed at the eastern side of the circulating area to the Foot over bridge, and the other, at the platform No.2/3 with access to the Foot over bridge.

The total cost for installation of two escalators is approximately Rs.2 crore. The work was sanctioned in the month of June 2015 and was completed within a year.

Advantages :

Reduces congestion at Mangaluru Central station, where 52 trains are being dealt with every day, including 23 pairs of daily trains. About 27,000 passengers use the station facilities daily, the escalators will reduce the congestion at the entry/exit point of the station to a large extent.

Improves accessibility at Mangaluru Central station, which already has two lifts linked with the Foot over bridge, connecting platforms (1) and (2/3).

The escalators will provide a modern outlook to Mangaluru Central, which is one of the major stations on the western Karnataka & Palakkad Division.
