Mangaluru: Cases against only ‘innocent’ KFD, PFI activists dropped, says Khader

Mangaluru, June 10, 2015:  State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has defended the state government’s recent  decision to withdraw cases against some PFI and KFD activists   by saying that cases against only ‘innocents’ have been dropped.

 

Speaking to reporters at Circuit House here on June 10, Wednesday, he said a request has also been made to the government to withdraw cases against innocents booked in the Ullal disturbances also. Referring to the Maggi controversy, he said though the government has issued directions to withdraw Maggi stocks from the stores, apart from Maggi it has also sent samples of six other brands for testing.

He further added that   the Maggi samples sent for test to Robust Materials Technology Ltd  revealed a lead content within permissible limits  while the test at NABL Peenya  found 0.053 grams of MSG in the noodles. “The government cannot ban the product blindly,” he said.

He said the government would take appropriate action in the Maggi case once it gets instructions from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India   to which  the reports have been sent.

He said rural service  has been made mandatory for  the  medical students as the Bill in this regard has got the approval of the President. Nearly 6,675 medical students and 2988 post graduate medical students who will appear  for final exams this year will be  made to serve rural areas, he added.

He informed that a sum of Rs 1.6 crores has been  sanctioned for the development of the road from Talapady Highway to Devipura and Kinya.

Referring to the International Yoga Day which will be observed on June 21, he said there should be no politics on the issue and added that the CM will inaugurate the Yoga Day programmes in Bengaluru.
