Mangaluru : CPI(M), DYFI protest against delay in commissioning Padil-Bajal under bridge

 Mangaluru, July 13, 2015:  The inordinate delay in the Commissioning of the much demanded Road Under Bridge at Padil-Bajal has invited the wrath of various organisations. On July 13, Monday, the CPI(M) and DYFI activists staged a protest in front of the MCC office demanding early commissioning of the Under Bridge.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, CPI(M) leader Sunil Kumar Bajal blamed the MCC for the delay in opening the  Under Bridge for  the members of the general public. He also drew the attention of the authorities towards the inconvenience faced by the local residents as well as motorists due to the closure of the Padil-Bajal road since October last to facilitate the construction of the under bridge.

It may be mentioned here that an under bridge is an over decade old  demand of residents of the area. The frequent closure of the level crossing gates here  has been affecting vehicular movement several times during a day.

Though the Under Bridge works are complete the change in the original plan of  constructing approach road to avert acquisition of private property has led to the delay in the Commissioning of the under bridge. The MCC now wants the approach road to come up on a railway land.

The   foundation for  the project  was laid in August 2014 and the same was  scheduled to be commissioned by February this year.
