Mangaluru : CCB cops arrest 4 thieves; seize gold, motorbikes worth Rs 16 lakhs

Mangaluru, Oct 21, 2015 :  CCB police of Mangaluru led by Inspector Valentine  D’Souza has arrested four persons  in connection with several chain snatching, vehicle theft and burglaries in religious shrines in different police station limits in the city and elsewhere in the district.  Gold jewels valued at Rs 6 lakhs and 11 bikes worth Rs 9 lakhs were seized from them.

Those arrested are Mohammad Rafique (26) of BC Road Goodinabali,  Aprim Shiyad  (19)  of Farangipete, Kaushik Nihal (19) of Arkula Farangipete and Farooq Irfan (19) of Katipalla.

The above information  was provided by City Police Commissioner S Murugan on October 20, Tuesday.  He stated that  the accused used to  rob women who go on walking  during early hours on the pretext of enquiring about some address.

They had reportedly  snatched chains near Kavoor Mahalingeshwara Temple, near Shivabagh,  Mangaladevi Temple, Uchila beach  and near Permanki. They were wanted even in connection with the case of snatching of mobile phone of one Madan Shet near Emmekere

The SP said they were even  involved in  burglaries at Innoli Somanatheshwara Temple, Jaina Basadi in Venur, Muniyala Temple in Bantwal, Panjikal Daivasthana in Bantwal  and Koradabbu Daivasthana near Pumpwell.
