Mangaluru : Businessman fatally knocked down by autorickshaw

Mangaluru, Jan 11, 2018:  A  pedestrian lost his life when an autorickshaw knocked him down while crossing the road near the RTO office here on January 10, Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Mavantoor Devappa Shetty (70), a businessman and  Lions Zonal Convenor.  Shetty hailed from Arala village in Bantwal taluk and was the former president of Bantwal Lions Club.

The mishap occurred when he was crossing the road near the AB Shetty Circle. He was  also the Honorary President  of Sharadotsava Samithi and Dharmadarshi of Sri Balavandi Pilichamundi Daivasthana.

Shetty is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
