Mangaluru: Bunts hostel road closed from today

Mangaluru, Nov 4, 2014: Traffic movement between Kodialbail and Kadri and Hampankatta is likely to worsen as an important artery road within the city will close down for repairs from today.

 

The stretch of road between the Bunts’ hostel and Dr B R Ambedkar circle near Jyoti cinema will be closed from today to December 31 for upgradation work.

It may inconvenience a large number of citizens and commuters, but in the long run it is expected to be a boon because this stretch has been getting dilapidated very often. Concreting of the road is being taken up immediately.

For the traffic arriving from M G Road towards Hampankatta, this is the only approach route as there is no entry for buses from PVS circle towards right.  There is only one-way movement for buses on K S Rao Road towards Bishop’s House and Navabharat circle.

This would mean that all traffic arriving from M G Road will have to be diverted to Kadri and there could be enormous pressure on Kadri, Bendoorwell and Collector’s Gate junctions.

City buses going towards Udupi will be plying by K S Rao Road while those coming from Udupi will come via Mallikatta, Balamatta,Ambekdar Circle and Reach Hampankatta, according to the official press release.
