Mangaluru, Nov 13, 2015: The city of Mangaluru as well as other parts of the district are observing a bundh on November 13, Friday as per the call given by Hindu organisations including the Bhajrangdal and the VHP to oppose the killing of a youth near BC Road and also to condemn the violence in the aftermath of Tipu Jayanthi celebrations. Normal life has been thrown totally out of gear with buses as well as autorickshaws too off the roads. Very few private vehicles are seen on the roads.
It may be recalled here that a youth named Harish was stabbed to death near BC Road on Thursday. The District Administration has already declared a holiday for educational institutions. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 are also in force.
Meanwhile, there are some stray incidents of creating road blockades by burning tyres at Ullal, Padua and Bikarnakatte.
Police have stepped up security across the city as well as the district to avert any untoward incident. They are also seen warning the public through public address system against gathering in large numbers in public places.
