Mangaluru : Brahmin in ’padapooja’ of Dalit swami

Mudipu, April 17, 2015:  Aiming to remove  caste system and untouchability, ’padapooja,’ anointing the feet, of  Dalit Seer Shashikantha Mani Swami of Kashi Kalabhairaweshwara Kshetra, Kanyana Balekodi, was performed by Brahmin community leader T G Rajaram Bhat at his residence in Mudipu on April 16.

 

Rajaram is honorary president of Dharma Jagruthi Samithi of Mudipu. Bhat welcomed the seer garlanding him and anointed the feet with milk. People from various communities took part in the paadapooja and sought blessings of the seer.  Shashikantha Mani Swami said social endeavors are the cause of all, with cooperation of each other. Rajaram Bhat termed untouchability as a cancer in society. To eradicate caste based discrimination and propagate humanitarian values, Dharma Jagruthi Vedike will organise a programme on April 19. The padapooja intends to root out caste based discrimination and more such programme should be held, he said.

Zilla Panchayat Vice President Sathish Kumpala, ZP member Santhosh Kumar Boliyar, Dharmajagruthi Samithi President Navin Padalpadi, Sandesh M, Dinaker Mundaje Balakrishna Rai were present among a good gathering.
