Speaking to reporters here on December 10, Thursday, Sharan accused the state government of encouraging the visit of Zakir Naik while it had not allowed leaders like Praveen Bhai Togadia and Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat to address meetings in Bengaluru and Sakleshpur  earlier. "Several countries have banned Zakir Naik   who is anti-national," he said and urged the administration not to allow him to Mangaluru.

Sharan also informed on the occasion that Togadia will be visiting  Mangaluru or Udupi  on January 6 to attend Hindu Samajotsava the venue of which is yet to be decided.

He stated that the  Datta Mala Abhiyana will be held from December 16 to 24 and that nearly 50,000 people will be participating from across the state.  As many as 15,000 people from DK, Udupi, Kasargod and Kodagu districts too will be part of the Abhiyana, he added.

Sharan slammed the state government and dubbed it as anti-Hindu and  alleged that ’police stations have become Congress offices under Congress rule." Referring to the Circle Inspector Pramod case of Mangaluru, Sharan alleged that  the officer was sent on leave merely because he  had arrested a person accused in a communal case.

Sunil K R, Dinesh Mendon and other leaders were present.
